Register Now to Have Emergency Public Safety Information Sent to Your Cell Phone
As a result of the recent October 29th Snow Storm, we have been working
with the Worcester County Alerting System staff on ways to improve the timely dissemination of emergency information
to our community regarding power outages and the status of its return.
Leominster subscribes to the Worcester County Alerting System. This system is used by police departments
for their 911 Emergency Systems and acquires its calling information from a telephone database that is purchased
and updated several times a year. This telephone database excludes cell phone information making it impossible
to communicate with people who use cell phones. Also, when landlines are out of service, communications capabilities
are significantly reduced.
The Worcester County Alerting System has recently developed a web site where you can register
your cell phone number and receive emergency public safety information on it. If you would like to receive emergency information via your
cell phone, you can register your cell by clicking here now.
Note: All cell phone information that you register
is protected information, seen only by you, and protected via a password only given to you.
